Vensa Health is Frost & Sullivan’s 2014 New Zealand Mobile Health Company of the Year

Developer of TXT2Remind practice-patient communications platform recognised as a New Zealand mHealth leader helping deliver a more patient centric healthcare system
 

AUCKLAND, New Zealand, 29 August 2014 - Vensa Health the developer of practice-patient communications platform TXT2Remind has been recognised as a leader in mHealth in New Zealand. The company was awarded the prestigious Frost & Sullivan New Zealand Mobile Health Company of the Year Award for 2014.

The Frost & Sullivan Award for Mobile Health Company of the Year is presented to the company who exhibits excellence in mHealth, the provision of healthcare services or health information-related services through the use of mobile devices and platforms. Market participants were judged on growth strategy and implementation, new product and technology innovation and leader in customer value and market penetration according to latest research on the New Zealand and global mHealth market.

Vensa Health was founded in 2006 when the company recognised the need for physician practices to improve patient management workflows. Since then, Vensa Health has released a number of solutions that support information sharing and enhance productivity particularly amongst general practitioners (GPs), nursing clinics and community care. Vensa Health is continuing its strong investment in R&D and is currently developing a next generation app based mHealth platform.

Over 750 General Practice customers (70% of the market) use mHealth solutions developed by Vensa Health, to deliver health messages to over 3 million Kiwis a year. With healthcare services increasing moving closer to homes and patients, Vensa Health has emerged as a visionary in terms of integrating this aspect of the care spectrum early, by working closely with the government and local health district boards, PHOs and GP practices. Further value is added to its patient management solutions by incorporating chronic disease management applications as well as educational and behavioural solutions that aim to provide a well-rounded care approach for the patient.

Vensa Health's innovative practice-patient messaging system TXT2Remind allows practice teams to deliver appointment, screening and medication reminders as well as key health messages direct to the patient via text message and interactive mobile content delivery. The technology integrates seamlessly with existing practice management and other computer systems. The solution is being used for a wide range of areas including all four government health priority areas - immunisations, heart, cervical screening, and smoking.

A recent change in Ministry of Health guidelines, which allows text messaging as an acceptable method of getting brief health advice, has enabled the solution to be used to help reduce smoking rates by identifying the smoking status of patients, providing brief advice and offering smoking cessation support (Smoking ABC). This has made the job of finding patient smoking status' easier for doctors who can then take a very proactive approach to offering important cessation support to patients.

Vensa's mHealth solutions are proving to be very useful for boosting population health outcomes for regions, such as Canterbury, that have adopted the solution on a region-wide level.

Jubbawey says in addition to assisting health outcomes in a very direct and meaningful way some great savings can be made through mHealth initiatives. "In the last year alone we estimate that our mHealth technology has resulted in at least 200 thousand fewer hospital attendances as a result of prompt and timely access to primary care services which equates to over $300 millions in savings."
